The stem cells are stored at Cytothera for 25 years (or until solicited) in the vapour phase of liquid nitrogen (at a temperature below -190ºC). The use of nitrogen vapor prevents cross contamination problems commonly associated with the use of liquid nitrogen in the liquid phase.
